💩 WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK:

🏫 Hello! We’re back in school, and I’m back with new videos and news links from my week:

📺 PBS Behind the Scenes: A Visual History of Milestones and Iconic Moments. A look back at the history of PBS and PBS Kids, and a glimpse into efforts to protect the organization, which has served generations of learners.

🧑‍🚀 Related: Newsela launches Luna, a “new AI-powered assistant“ for teachers.

📖 The Day You Begin, read by author Jacqueline Woodson, is a modern classic for the start of the school year.

🇦🇺 Australia is banning social media for users under 16, and that now includes YouTube. I’m curious to see if the effects will be beneficial. But what will this mean for Australian students trying to watch Science Friday’s Opisthoteuthis deep-sea octopus video or Harvard’s Coandă effect physics demo in class or on educational sites like TKSST or TED-Ed?

If you're in Australia, will you reply and let me know what you're hearing? Are you happy or concerned with the changes? Will logged-out kids be able to watch everything rather than being logged in with age-appropriate safeguards? Will teachers need to manage in-class video viewing in new ways?

Finally, thanks so much to the new members who have joined in support of TKSST over the last few weeks. We’re truly grateful!

Stay safe, and have a great week. - Rion
