But what will this mean for Australian students trying to watch Science Friday’s Opisthoteuthis deep-sea octopus video or Harvard’s Coandă effect physics demo in class or on educational sites like TKSST or TED-Ed?

If you're in Australia, will you reply and let me know what you're hearing? Are you happy or concerned with the changes? Will logged-out kids be able to watch everything rather than being logged in with age-appropriate safeguards? Will teachers need to manage in-class video viewing in new ways?
