🎯 WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK:

🏫 Pennsylvania science teacher Bruce Yeany has spent over 40 years demonstrating that the best physics lessons can often be found in the hardware store. He’s made string shooters that show how waves travel along a moving rope, wooden blocks with rubber bands that illustrate Newton's laws and the concept of inertia, sand-filled DIY displays that expose the angle of repose, and more.

Yeany's homemade experiments are approachable and practical, designed so students can predict and test results themselves. His channel documents the process of making and using these projects in the classroom, reaching teachers and lifelong learners worldwide. Check out his videos on YouTube and TheKidShouldSeeThis.com.

🛠️ July is my catch-up month for behind-the-scenes work, primarily focused on membership improvements and collection maintenance (plus spending fleeting summer time with my kids). With 7,000 videos already in our searchable library, there's plenty to discover while I'm tinkering, and I’ll be back with fresh content in August.

In the meantime, check out TKSST Today, our daily newsletter. While we’re on summer pause, it will feature videos from the archives (instead of the day's new videos) as well as new STEAM-related headlines.

💡 ICYMI: Kids absolutely benefit from being bored and getting outside. (Thanks to Kelsey at the Children's Creativity Museum for sharing David Sobel’s work on this.) That said, sometimes you need ideas for activities; this video collection has some great DIY options for summer. Let me know if any become favorites.

Stay safe out there, and thank you for all you do. - Rion
